The Philosophy Behind This List
Most Disney packing lists are written to sell you things. Ours is written to save you from buying things you won't use.
We've pared this down across multiple trips. Some items were things we'd never go without. Others were items we brought once and left in the hotel room. This is the actual list we use.
The Non-Negotiables (Don't Leave Home Without These)
1. Your Own Stroller Already covered in our stroller guide. Rent nothing. Bring yours.
2. Clip-On Fan Florida heat is real. A battery-powered clip-on fan that attaches to the stroller changes the experience in July-October. Get one with at least 4-6 hours of battery life.
3. Cooling Towels Wet, wring, snap. These cool dramatically and work for adults and toddlers. Get several.
4. Small Backpack with Hip Belt For park days, you're carrying everything for hours. A backpack with hip belt transfer weight off your shoulders. Critical for multi-park days.
5. Refillable Water Bottles Disney allows outside food and drinks. Tap water at Disney World is well-filtered. Fill up at any quick-service counter for free.
6. Snacks from Home Fruit pouches, crackers, raisins, whatever your toddler will reliably eat in a stress moment. Overpacking snacks is not a thing. There is no such thing as too many familiar snacks.
7. First Aid Kit Band-aids, children's ibuprofen/acetaminophen, allergy meds, blister treatments. You will not need most of this. Until you need it in the middle of a park and you're grateful you have it.
8. Sunscreen (Baby-Specific) Florida sun. Apply every two hours. Bring more than you think you need. The in-park sunscreen is expensive and you'll resent buying it.
9. Compact Rain Poncho (x Everyone in Party) Florida afternoon storms are almost daily in summer. They're short, they're heavy, and they're coming. Ponchos are $15 in-park when you're desperate. They're $2 on Amazon before you leave home.
10. Nightlights (Pack 2) Disney resort rooms are dark. Your toddler will wake up confused in the middle of the night in an unfamiliar room. A small nightlight has saved us from multiple 3am scares.
The Stuff We Always Pack
11. Portable Sound Machine For naps. The resort rooms are reasonably quiet but a white noise machine gives consistent coverage and helps your child recognize "nap time" even in a new place.
12. Blackout Window Cover Resort curtains are decent but not perfect for afternoon naps in a sun-heavy room. A travel blackout shade (they adhere temporarily with suction) genuinely helps.
13. Anti-Blister Sticks For the adults. You will walk 8-12 miles per park day. Plan accordingly.
14. Laundry Detergent Pods Pack fewer clothes; use the resort laundry. One evening of laundry means 2 fewer days of packing.
15. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Outfit (if booked) If you've booked the princess/knight transformation experience, bring the outfit you want for after — the provided costume is beautiful but your toddler may want to change into their "real" outfit for character meetings.
16. Autograph Book + Marker Your toddler will not remember collecting autographs. You will cherish this book forever.
17. Small Character Plush for Comfort Having a familiar stuffed animal that connects to a character they love can smooth over difficult moments (long waits, scary moments, general toddler chaos).
18. Swimsuit (2 per Child) One wet, one ready. If you're doing pool time and then a water play area, having a backup ready is crucial.
19. Waterproof Phone Case For Stormalong Bay or any splash pad area. Non-negotiable.
20. Portable Charger My Disney Experience app drains batteries. Bring a good portable charger and keep it topped off.
Good to Have
21. Lanyard for Park Tickets/Cards Keep MagicBands/tickets accessible and not loose in a bag.
22. Glow Bracelets/Accessories for Evening Purchase these off Amazon before the trip — same Disney glow products, 1/5 the price.
23. Baby Carrier For attractions where strollers can't go, or when your toddler refuses the stroller. Even at 3 years old, a hip carrier is occasionally useful.
24. Disposable Wipes (Lots) More than you think. In multiple bags. In the stroller. In your backpack. In your partner's bag.
25. Small First-Aid Blister Treatment Already in the first aid kit, but we separately flag this because blisters will happen on day two.
26. Packable Tote Bag For souvenir purchases you didn't plan to make but will absolutely make.
27. This List, Saved on Your Phone Pack it early. Check it twice. The forgotten items always seem obvious in hindsight.
